GREAT BRITAIN’S Charley Davison and Chantelle Reid got off to winning starts on the opening day of the World Boxing Cup: International Invitational event in Colorado, America.

The duo will be hoping to maintain their success for the remainder of the competition as their preparations ahead of Paris 2024 continue with having already secured their quota place at the respective qualification events in Poland (European Games, 2023) and Italy (Boxing Road to Paris, 2024).

Kicking things for GB Boxing was bantamweight Charley Davison who got the better of the host nation’s Shera Mae Patriciovia a 4:1 split.

She now face another boxer from the USA, Yoseline Perez, when they meet in Thursday’s quarter-final action.

Next up and concluding the day’s session for Britain was middleweight Chantelle Reid.

The Derby boxer was competing just a month after sealing her place in Paris this summer and she continued where she left off by comfortably beating Australia’s Emma Greentree unanimously.

Chantelle will now face America’s Naomi Graham on Thursday, with a win booking her a place in the semi-final and ensuring she leaves the event with a medal.
