BABA Board – Diversity statement

The BABA believes in fairness and equity and values diversity in all its dealings.  The BABA aims to embed its equality and diversity values into every day practice, policies and procedures.  The BABA drives these beliefs from the top by the board and senior management team and embedded with all staff, volunteers and athletes.

A diverse organisation will value and benefit from differences in sport skills, regional and industry experience, background, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, belief and age, as well as culture and personality.

The BABA recognises and embraces the benefits of having a diverse board and sees increasing diversity at board level as an essential element.  A truly diverse board will include and make good use of differences in the skills, experience, background, race, gender and other qualities of the directors. The BABA is committed to achieving greater diversity on its Board, including, but not limited to, Black, Asian, minority ethnic (BAME) diversity and disability.

Sixteen percent of the BABA board is currently female.  In accordance with the mandatory requirements of the Code of Sports Governance, the BABA will encourage diverse candidates for board roles, and is committed to meeting the target of a minimum of thirty percent of each gender on its board. Furthermore, the BABA is committed in the future to achieving gender parity.

The BABA board has an action plan to achieve greater diversity which is reviewed annually.
