Five GB boxers returned from the second World Boxing Cup event of the year — the Feliks Stamm tournament in Poland — with medals.
Elise Glynn led the way, earning silver in the women’s 60kg category. Bronze medals went to Kelsey Oakley (51kg), Sameenah Toussaint (57kg), Kyle Shaw-Tullin (75kg), and Teagn Stott (85kg).
Glynn progressed furthest, reaching the final where she was beaten on points by Kosovo’s Donjeta Sadiku, a Paris 2024 Olympian. On her way there, she overcame Czech Republic’s Barbora Maxova and edged out Aneta Rygielska of Poland, 3:2, avenging her April loss to the Pole in Brazil.
Light-flyweight Oakley also won twice before taking bronze. She opened with a win over former world medallist Wassila Lkhadiri of France and then beat another Frenchwomen in the form of Kaelya Mopin, unanimously. Her run ended with a narrow 3:2 defeat to Bulgaria’s Zlatislava Chukanova.
Middleweight Shaw-Tullin recorded a unanimous win over Germany’s Mouxime Abdoulay before narrowly losing 3:2 to Uzbekistan’s Fazlidden Erkinboev in the semis.
Both Toussaint and Stott exited after their opening bouts, losing to Poland’s Julia Szeremeta (5:0) and Jakub Straszewski (4:1) respectively.
Elsewhere, GB teammates Ellis Trowbridge, Aaron Cullen (55kg), Kayla Allen (65kg), Patris Mughalzai (65kg), and Paddy Hewitt (70kg) all exited at the preliminary stages.
