In 2019, Taylor, who at the time was studying at Barton Peveril sixth form in Hampshire, won the Great Britain Three Nations Boxing championships which led him to compete at the European Youth championships where he reached the quarterfinals.

His performances both at home and abroad earnt him an assessment with GB Boxing where he was awarded a place on the podium squad in January 2022.

In that same month, and making his debut as a GB Boxer, Taylor won gold at the Tammer tournament. He continued that form with another gold medal at the Grand Prix which was enough to see hum selected to compete at the 2022 European Championships in Armenia.

After an impressive opening victory against Sweden’s Liridon Nuha, Taylor was narrowly beaten in his following bout. However, his experiences in Yerevan furthered his progression as he swiftly went on to take silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, winning his first two bouts in Birmingham via first round stoppages.

Since joining the programme, Taylor has developed a reputation for being involved in memorable and eye-catching fights, so much so that he has won consecutive ‘Bout of the Year’ awards at the annual GB Boxing awards in 2022 and 2023.

Firstly, for his Commonwealth Games semi-final clash with former teammate Aaron Bowen and then again for his Grand Prix contest with USA’s world champion Rahim Gonzales, both of which he of course won.

In 2023, he competed at the first Olympic qualifying event in Krakow at the European Games but was beaten in the preliminary stages. However, he will get a second shot at earning a place in Paris when he enter the second qualifier set to take place in March 2024.
