GB Boxing will return from the inaugural World Boxing Cup: International Invitational in Colorado, America with eleven medals following the concluding day of action, with Charley Davison and Elise Glynn both being crowned champions following victory.
Wales’ Owain Harris Allan and England’s Gemma Richardson also competed on the final day but had to settle for silver, however, as they both suffered unanimous defeats to Brazil’s Luiz Oliveira and China’s Yang Wen Lu respectively.
Patris Mughalzai also took silver after he was withdrawn from his scheduled light-welterweight-final versus Dedrick Crocklem.
Bantamweight Charley Davison got finals day off to a flying start by beating Canada’s Scarlett Delgado via a 3-1 to be crowned champion.
Davison was deducted a point in the second round but didn’t let that stop her from dominating the contest to seal gold in what was her fourth bout of the week.
On her way to the top of the podium, the Lowestoft boxer, who will become a two-time Olympian this summer having qualified at the European Games last year, earned victories over USA’s Yoseline Perez and Shera Mae Patricio as well as China’s Chang Yuan.
The other boxer clinch gold on the final day of action was featherweight Elise Glynn who made it three wins from three in Colorado with a unanimous victory over Jucielen Romeu.
It was a confident display from Glynn who followed up in style upon her earlier victories this week which came against the host nation’s Francis Stewart as well as Czech Republic’s Lucie Sedlackova.
Today’s results mean that GB Boxing will leave the World Boxing Cup: International Invitational with 11 medals, which are as follows:
