GB Boxing set to send team of sixteen to Boxam in first competitive action of 2025

By 2nd February 2025News

SIXTEEN members of the GB Boxing squad will next week compete in this year’s Boxam tournament in La Nucia, Spain, from 4th-8th of February in what will be the team’s first competitive action of 2025.

The team is made up of nine men and seven women and includes cruiserweight Teagn Stott who makes his first outing since becoming European U23s champion back in October of last year.

Also, competing for the first time since clinching gold is Dimeji Shittu after he became light-heavyweight champion at the inaugural World Boxing Cup Finals in Sheffield in November.

Ellis Trowbridge, Zoe Andrews, Olivia Holmes, Vivien Parsons and Kayla Allen were also in action at the World Boxing Cup, with Trowbridge, Parsons and Allen earning silver, and join teammate, Shittu, in returning to action at the Boxam.

Elsewhere, there are three GB Boxing debuts as Alice Pumphrey, who most recently won gold at the U19 World Championships in Colorado, as well as Ella Thompstone and Will Hewitt who will step through the first time since joining the World Class Programme (WCP) at the start of the year.

It’ll be a family affair in La Nucia as Will’s twin brother Paddy is also part of the travelling squad. Paddy was last in the ring back in September as he picked up a bronze medal at the World Boxing event in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Completing the squad is middleweight Amber Moss-Birch as well as heavyweight Isaac Okoh and super-heavyweight Damar Thomas.
