GB Boxing selects 15 boxers to compete in Dacal tournament in Spain

Fifteen men and women from the GB Boxing squad have been selected to compete in the Dacal World Cup in Mostoles, Spain from 23rd-29th September 2024.

The Spanish hosted tournament returns for the second edition having successfully held the inaugural edition last year where 71 men and women from eleven countries competed.

The group of boxers selected to compete is comprised of 8 men and 7 women and includes Lauren Mackie, Isaac Okoh and Damar Thomas who all come into the tournament having spent time as sparring partners with Team GB’s boxers at the recent Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Olivia Holmes and Kelsey also head into the competition with good prep having won gold and silver medals respectively at the Eindhoven Box Cup back in May of this year.

The same too can be said for Sacha Hickey who has won back-to-back gold medals on Spanish soil in the last year after being crowned light-welterweight champion at successive Boxam events.

The female trio will be joined in Spain by Scottish pair Aaron Cullen and Isa Akram as well as Wales’ Zoe Andrews with Akram and Andrews set to make their debuts as GB Boxers.

Also set to make their GB Boxing bows are Kayla Allen and Demeji Shittu as well as Odel Kamara and Teagn Stott who both enjoyed gold medal success at last year’s edition of the Dacal whilst representing England Boxing.

Completing the squad is bantamweight Ellis Trowbridge and featherweight Sameenah Toussaint.

The 15 boxers will represent England, Scotland and Wales at the Dacal championships.  The full team is:
