Four female members of the GB Boxing squad booked their place in today’s World Boxing Cup: International Invitational semi-finals following victories on day three in Colorado, America.
Savannah Stubley, Charley Davison, Elise Glynn and Gemma Richardson all got the better of their opponents to guarantee themselves a medal ahead of today’s action.
Four other members of the squad were also in action yesterday but sadly, Demie-Jade Resztan, Sameenah Toussaint, Shona Whitwell and Chantelle Reid, all suffered defeat.
Light-flyweight, Stubley, got day three off to a flyer when she beat the host nation’s Lexus Ramirez unanimously to set up a semi-final clash with Australia’s Monique Suraci.
Then in the last bout of the day’s first session, Elise Glynn earned an impressive 4-1 split victory over USA’s Alyssa Mendoza.
Glynn will today hope to beat Czech Republic’s Lucie Sadlackova for a place in the featherweight final.
Soon to be two-time Olympian Charley Davison earned her second victory of the competition as she clinched a unanimous victory over Yoseline Perez of the USA.
The bantamweight also beat Shera Mae Patricio earlier this week and will hoping to make it three from three when she takes on China’s Chang Yuan.
The final victory of day three came in the lightweight contest as Gemma Richardson, who was boxing for the first time this year, defeated Germany’s Felicitas Ganglbauer in a closely fought encounter via a 3:2.
Richardson will now hope to book her place in Saturday’s final by beating USA’s Lisa Greer
