ALL five GB Boxers who travelled to this year’s Tammer tournament in Tampere, Finland, have returned with medals with Ivy-Jane Smith, Kayla Allen and Callum Makin earning gold.

The remaining two medals were secured by Vivien Parsons, on her GB Boxing debut, as well as Elise Glynn with both girls being narrowly beaten in their respective featherweight and lightweight finals.

On the final day of action, welterweight Kayla Allen secured her second gold medal in under a month, following success at September’s Dacal, after she defeated Norway’s Madeleine Angelsen unanimously.

On her way to the 66kg final, Allen also earned equally impressive victories over Krista Kovalainen (5:0) and Brazil’s Beatriz Soares (3:2) to continue her fine run of good form and maintain her 100%-win rate as a GB Boxer.

Elsewhere, Ivy-Jane Smith was crowned champion of the bantamweight round robin after a 4:1 win over the host nation’s Teresa Mäkinen.

Smith came in the competition in good form following a bronze medal at the recent World Boxing Cup event in Mongolia and her other victories in Tampere this week came over Germany’s Tatjana Obermeier and Norway’s Anabelle Bruun.

The final boxer to clinch gold in Finland was Callum Makin who had a GB Boxing debut to remember versus the hosts Jimi Noioso and as he sealed a 4:1 victory.
