Fred Evans worked hard to overcome tough Georgian Zaal Kvachatadze in his first bout of the World Championships, but day seven saw him take his place in the last 16 of the competition in Almaty.
Joe Cordina's draw against a strong Cuban saw the crowd entertained but the GB boxer leaving the competition early.

Light heavyweight Scott Forrest, representing Scotland, dominated Pederson of Denmark from the first bell, earning himself a place in the final 16.

Results - winners in bold.

69kg: Fred Evans (GB Boxing/Wales) beat Zaal Kvachatadze (Georgia) 2:1

A characteristically adept display saw Fred Evans through to the last 16. The Georgian was on the front foot throughout, but after an even first round, Fred started to take control with a smart display of counter-punching. Fred's movement and footwork made him elusive, and the Welshman picked off his opponent to impress the judges and secure his place in the next round.

81kg: Scott Forrest (Scotland) beat Martin Pederson (Denmark) 3:0

After a solid opening round, Scott upped the pace in the second, dominating again with the full range of shots. The best was to come, and with the Danish boxer no longer in the bout, Scott peppered his opponent with clean shots in the last to win a place in the last 16.

60kg: Joe Cordina (GB Boxng/Wales) lost to Lazaro Estrada (Cuba) 3:0

The unanimous scoreline flattered the Cuban in a superb bout that allowed both sides to show off their technique. Joe was in the bout all the way, and in three very close rounds could have won on a different day. Joe moved well and was connecting regularly throughout, working well on the inside and at range, but the judges deemed the Cuban to have the edge, and it was Estrada who took his place in the next round.
