Nicola Adams has been announced as one of twelve contenders for this year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
The nomination comes at the end of a whirlwind year of success for the 30-year-old from Leeds, who is now instantly recognisable thanks to her achievements and her famous smile. She made history by being the first ever woman to represent Britain in an Olympic Games, and was also the first to win a gold medal.
Nicola said: "It is a massive honour to be nominated in such an amazing year for British sport. I just cannot believe it."
GB Boxing's Performance Director, Rob McCracken, said: "This is great news for Nicola and great news for the sport. It is a very well deserved reward for everything that Nicola has achieved in the last 12 months and her performances at the Olympic Games where she was absolutely outstanding and comprehensively out-boxed her biggest rival in the final."
The show will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC One HD and BBC Radio 5 live on Sunday 16 December. The show starts at 19:35 and the viewing public on the night will decide who will be crowned their Sports Personality of the Year.
