Nicola Adams the history-maker is Great Britain’s first ever women’s boxing gold medallist.
Adams took a 16-7 victory against Cancan Ren of China. Adams put everything she had into this competition, after years of training and preparation for this day, she takes home the prize she has always dreamt of…a gold medal. Nicola Adams (ENG) 16-7 Cancan Ren (CHI) London 2012 has been the debut of women’s boxing as an Olympic sport, and from the performance of the boxers involved it is fair to say that women’s boxing has upped its game, and will go on to be a huge success in the future. England’s Nicola Adams has shown some phenomenal boxing skills throughout the competition, defeating both India’s world champion Mery Kom to secure her place in the final, and then taking a 16-7 victory against her arch rival Ren. Next up for Team GB, competing for their place in the final are Luke Campbell, Anthony Ogogo, Anthony Joshua and Fred Evans.
