Middleweight, Antony Fowler and flyweight, Andrew Selby will box in the semi-finals of the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan tomorrow (Friday 25 October 2013).
The bouts will be screened LIVE on the BBC’s red button service and the BBC Sport website.
Fowler will take on number six seed, Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, of tournament hosts, Kazakhstan, in the early session at approximately 1045 (UK time).
Selby will box number four seed Jasurbek Latipov of Uzbekistan in the later session at 1300.
The European champion from Wales will be aiming to make his second successive World Championship final after his silver medal winning performance in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2011.
For Liverpool’s Fowler, it is his first appearance in the last-four of a major tournament after defeating boxers seeded seventh and second in his two most recent bouts.
The pair are already guaranteed a bronze medal. A win tomorrow will upgrade this to silver and the opportunity to compete for gold in Saturday’s final.
Securing two medals in Almaty means boxers from the GB Boxing squad have won five medals at two major championships in 2013, after Andrew Selby took gold and Joe Joyce and Jack Bateson came away with bronze from the European Championships in June.
Overall, male and female boxers from the GB Boxing squad have won 31 medals in 9 major international competitions since Rob McCracken took over as Performance Director in November 2009.
Results will also be posted on Twitter, @gbboxing and the GB Boxing website.
