The students completed the two-year education and boxing programme which runs in association with the ABAE, SkillsActive and South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.

The ceremony saw the students enjoy a day at the GB Boxing gym, along with a meet and greet with the boxers due to compete at London 2012 next month.

The event which was held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield, also gave the graduates the opportunity to meet the GB coaches, and experience the surroundings of an Olympic gym where the Olympic hopefuls train on a daily basis.

The AASE programme wants to see more boxers follow in the footsteps of Jack, and intends to implement this throughout the AASE course which now runs throughout seven colleges across the country.

Tom Gilbert, ABAE National Programme and Participation Manager said:  “It’s a great pleasure to witness the first cohort of AASE boxers graduating. I’m proud of each and every one of them and what they have achieved over the past 2 years.

“I look forward to following their progress in both boxing and the career paths they choose to follow. I would like to say well done to all of the graduates.”

The Advanced Apprenticeships in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme is now recruiting for the 2012/2014 students.
